28/12 Harry Sprange. - Mt 2:1-23
Mt 2:1-23 quotes from OT, for Jewish readership. Not only did God do amazing things, He fulfilled all that was foretold in amazing ways. Mt 8:15 more fulfilment of what was spoken before. Many times in Matthew's gospel, accounts of what were prophesied. This is the story of Israel's history and God's salvation. The promise was given to Abraham in Gen 22:18 immediately after the offering of Isaac. Gal 3:16 the seed is Christ. Jesus descended from Abraham and David Jer 23:5. He is our righteousness. Lk Mary's genealogy, Mt Joseph's genealogy. Isa 11:1 a shoot, a branch. Very similar to armour Eph 6. Monarchy abolished at time of Babylonians. A fresh shoot grows up. Neza. Is Nazerene a prophecy? A new shoot? Bethlehem, house of bread. Wise men from? Gen 25:25 Abraham had other sons in Shaba, Dedan. [Probably Arabia, not Persia] Judges 6: Arabs. Ps 72:10 Kings bringing gifts [to Solomon]. It was the Queen of Sheba who visited Solomon, rest of Ps is a prophecy about Jesus. Isa 60:6 gold & incense from Sheba [Arabia] - typical gifts from Yemen. Star was in North West, not SW. Jer 31:31-33 first, clearest prophecy of New Covenant. Healing is coming. Gen 49:10 Jacob dying, prophecy for each son. Judah, refers more to Jesus. Maccabeans were Levites. The Romans took away the Sanhedrin's power, the sceptre was taken. Messaiah had already come. Ps 118:26. Malachi talks about, the messenger and the Lord, coming while the temple still standing. Zech 11 speaks of coins thrown into temple. Dan 9: the angel talks in riddles. 7 can mean weeks, or weeks of years. 69 x 7 = time from rebuilding Jerusalem to coming of Messaiah. 476 years from 444 BC to 33 AD. Another prince comes after and destroys. 332 distinct predictions, 61 propetic subjects fulfilled by Jesus.

21/12 Alan Milnes - Lk 1:5-45.
Commercial Christmas starts earlier each year. Do not complain. Christianity hijacked a winter festival. There are still opportunities to share the real message of Christ incarnate. Attitude is important. Make sure you know the details. Gabriel, Zachariah, Mary. Angels, only 2 named, they are wonderful & mysterious. They are messengers. Gabriel brings news to Zach, Mary. We also stand in God's presence and take His message out to the world. We have Christian heritage woven into our culture. Zach spent his whole life preparing for this service, & it may not even happen. 400 yrs of silence? (In last 400yrs Colonisation of America. Electricity) Had Zachariah given up on his dream of fatherhood? Only hanging on to hope of Messiah? Both prayers answered. Mary, a teenager, her engagement to Joseph was more binding than our version. She would not have had much education. We do not show enough respect for Mary & her role in His-story. She was a significant part of God's plan. God sees the attitude in both responses, despite the words sounding the same. Mary & Elizabeth both hide away. Through the whole story, there is Holy Spirit. v67 Zachariah is filled with HS. He is God working out His plan through chosen people. Only He can bring salvation. He is supernatural & spiritual. Many people prefer to trust science and humanity. Look for the miracles He wants to do in you this season of joy and peace. Old men & young girls are involved in His plan. He breaks the silence.

14/12 David Seel - Luke 1:5-25
Project in US:feelings of uncertainty. John Scott prophecy - not 1st thing. God is at work, just not clear yet. Opportunities on street in Falkirk. What is God going to do? What are we expecting? Joy? Hope? Great expectations! Strong belief. We need expectations, even though we may struggle when they are not fulfilled. Hope is the absence of certainty. Prov 13:12. Luke 1:5-25. Zachariah & Elizabeth, descended from Aaron. He had a high profile socially. v6,7 bad things don't mean that God is unhappy with us. Z & E did everything right, morally & legally. Gen 16,1 Sam; not the same thing here. Mt 19:26, learn to trust God more. Give Him time. v8 Z chosen for temple duties. God chose who served Him in this way. No one could complain to anyone. God wants us to be involved, too often we choose the terms. God has chosen me. v11,13 it's never too late; God has heard our prayer. Pray for salvation, healing, ministry. God hears. He doesn't give up on us. v18 God can overcome the impossible. How can we be sure? We have lived the life of faith, when God comes in these moments, trust Him. v24,25 God is willing t overcome the impossible. v57 this happened. It can happen to others, but not me. Others are not good enough either. God can & God will. This event had to happen; it was prophecied Mal 4. God's way in His time for his glory is the ultimate. God breaks in @ Christmas. He is able & willing. There is no formula; pray & trust. Expect God to act when we ask. For KCF- tree lights fading and glowing. A city on a hill. Sometimes we are full on, sometimes it takes longer for us to get to full strength. Mt 5v14-16. Be light and bring out colours in world around. Be open & generous. As we shine, others will open up to God.

7/12 Richard Hobson. - Mt 4:1-11
This is not just a story, or a weird confrontation. The one who caused the world to fall tries to take on the one who came to redeem the word. Satan twisted the Word of God to Adam. Here he challenges Jesus identity. We cannot always do what Jesus did. Don't always try to walk in His shoes. Jesus has gone on His own many times. Fasting must be accompanied by prayer an intention. Seeking to hear God's voice. He was preparing himself for ministry. v2 hungry is an understatement. The devil suggests. Son of God should not have to suffer. Jn 5 only do what the Father says. He was in a season of focusing on what God was saying. He was obedient. This time Satan quotes scripture accurately, but still challenges Jesus identity. Jesus power and authority was for his ministry, not for personal use. v7 He didn't need to see if the powers worked in 'artificial' situations. The whole universe belongs to Jesus, not the prince of this world. Jesus would still be king, but under Satan. Jesus knows there is better way. Jesus uses scripture correctly. Make sure physical needs do not usurp spiritual needs. Don't fulfil prophecy out of context. Avoid the easy route to success. The blessings we have are due to Jesus obedience. Arm yourselves with the sword of the spirit - The Word of God. Jas 4. Only uses God's promises in the context of obedience and trust. He does this when we follow Kingdom living. When we read His promises, we are obliged to act. Testing is different from proving. To be obedient can be challenging. By faith we receive His righteousness and obedience. We have this joyful freedom. In obedience we have confidence and assurance.

30/11 Alan Seel, - Acts 12:1-17
The world is taking over Christmas. We should make more effort to share the good news. It can be difficult to get the message across. Focus on Jesus, take hold of what we have. Words can have multiple meanings. Dangerous: adverse consequences? Living on the edge. Acts 12:1-17 Peter was a victim of Herod's persecution of the Christians. He was put in prison, but remained free. The Church was amazed that their fervent prayers were answered. Live on the edge, be bold & courageous. Peter was convinced, he had strong faith, knew who he was, had complete trust in God. Commitment, not ducking out of what he had to do. Keep the goal in focus. Dedicated to the cause of Jesus. Prayer is essential. Willing to serve. Peter declared undying love, for Jesus, yet his humanity let him down on many occasions. Canon Andrew White is very courageous. Compassion is also an essential attribute. He gave what Jesus had put in him. Lk 10 good Samaritan. God's mercy for the poor & needy should flow through us. The art of neighbouring. This can take time & effort. Mk 12:30,31 commandment 1 & 2. Contribute to the life of the Church, neighbourhood. We have something to celebrate, something to share. We have help, this comes through HS in us.

23/11 Andrea Mill, Bristo Baptist. - Mt 14:22-36 Jesus' journey.
Most of His ministry was around Galilee, based in Capernaum. People question who He is. Crowds follow Him. Jesus travels continually, finds it difficult to be alone. Jesus tells disciples to get in the boat, then tells the crowds to go home. No-one can go on forever, we all need time out, to connect with God, in prayer. Where did Jesus get His power? Jesus was human, the physical realm obeyed Him, He operated in the spiritual realm. Jesus had done lots of talking, He had given them some practice, not He gives a demonstration. How would I react when confronted with someone with extraordinary power? Trip to Islay, ministering, doing the works to spread the message. God is continually doing things beyond our comprehension. Immediately, used frequently here, Jesus is near, He is here, don't be afraid. He will give us courage & comfort. Is Peter unsure who Jesus is? Peter was beginning to get who Jesus is. Peter set off towards Jesus, but became distracted from Jesus gaze & focused on the troubled waters. Fear is not from God. Are we quick to cry, "God save me". We have authority over the devil. Remain looking at Jesus. Operate in the supernatural. Realise Jesus is the Son of God. This is the first time people recognise this. Only evil spirits declared this previously. Jesus returns to near Capernaum, after being up all night. People long to touch Him and be healed. We are never alone; Jesus comes as soon as we call. Love casts out fear. Trust Him, step out of the boat/comfort zone. Allow God to come and bless. We can worship in the boat, or step out and preach good news, bring healing and hope.

16/11 Paul Younger - Acts 16:11-24
To the broken... Tick off the list. Acts 16:11-24 Do you get 'perfect' days? More often we get challenging days. Life is a roller coaster. Paul experienced many extremes from luxury in Lydia's house to feet in the stocks in prison. Paul went where people were. Life was cruising along. She was a well-off gentile who worshipped with Jews; open to spirituality. Dealing in purple meant it was expensive and for the nobility. It was obtained from milking a sea snail by hand, or by crushing it. Lydia was wealthy & moved in upper echelons off society. She believed and was saved. She was the first convert in modern-day Europe. Each day Paul goes out to pray & preach. Next encounter was the slave girl. Her spirit recognises the HS in Paul. She became distracting. Paul took spiritual authority, but landed in trouble. People react when their wallets are affected. Look closely at what is happening. Nothing really changed. Paul was carrying out his calling. The result of Paul's was always beyond Paul's contol. We must be faithful to what God has called us to do & leave the outcome with Him. We plant the seed, God's harvest comes when His time is right. God is always in control.

9/11 Harry Sprange. - Lk 18:1-4
Cindy Jacobs prophecy. Jean Darnell. Wave of glory out of Scotland for nations. Evangelism, sent to the nations, primary & secondary schools, burning ones, dreams & visitations. French prophet, Harry involved in Kids ministry again. Armadale school. God is moving! Trust in God. Pray. Lk 18:1-4 always pray. Lk 21:3, Rom 12:12. How do we do this? What does God expect. Acts 6:4 prayer, then preaching. 1 Tim 5:5. Know you priorities. This is not about repetition. 1 Tim 2 pray for all people: so they get saved. Eph 6:9 the right words to speak boldly. Preach, evangelise. Pray the message spreads rapidly. The overwhelming issue in prayer is for salvation. Pauls letters include prayers for the church. This releases a greater revelation of God in the church. Eph 1, ch 3, Col 1 knowledge of will, power. 2 Thes 1:11,12 Jesus glorified. Rom 10 pray for nation. Jesus prayed for the Kingdom Mt 6, workers for harvest. When we bring our own needs we can leave them with God. We battle in prayer for the salvation of others. We are to be ready for the troubles & challenges that are coming. Js 5:16 pray for healing. Acts 6 commissioning, Acts 13. Acts 8 pray for HS on new believers. Persevere, it can be hard work Rom 15:30. Heb 5:7 Jesus cried out. He sweated in Gethsemane. James - earnest prayer, righteousness prayer. Seek God for what to pray about. Include at least 1 other nation, 1 overseas christian worker & whatever else.

2/11 Jim Neilson - Mk 12:18-27.
Materialists think there is nothing after death; some think they have been here before. Bible teaches a bodily resurrection, a new heaven & earth. Jesus faces a question from the conservative Saducees. Deut is about preservation of the family. Resurrection is different. Jesus selects his text to suit his hearers [they only accept 1st 5 bks of OT]. Our physical bodies won't endure. We can pray for the sick knowing they will be healed. We may not see this before the resurrection. Jesus affirms that there is a resurrection. He points people to scripture, to the truth. Jesus encourages then to gather knowledge and understanding through studying the Bible. Read it all to view the context, let it challenge your beliefs. God reveals himself in different ways. HS helps us to understand and gives us spiritual insight. We also need to understand God's power. Don't let limited experience affect what is possible. Natural life is a priceless possession. Death & sickness are enemies of the living. Life comes through the Word. God raises the dead. We believe in resurrection, power of Word, how do I live this week.

12/10 Ryan Robertson. - Rom 2:1-12.
Can I be bothered? Only God's judgement will produce righteousness. We have no right to judge. We have been sanctified, but pride can still overcome us. When we share the truth it must be in the right attitude. Jn 3:17ff Jesus did not come to condemn. Have a heart for people. Imitate Jesus. People in need are open; help them. Am I that bad? Yes. Are we worthy to carry the gospel? v4 God's kindness leads to repentance. Only God forgives sin, but confession to another promotes honesty, accountability & fosters support. It can release the blockage. Every step we take requires repentance. This enables us to minister to other broken people. v6 our hearts can give good things. When God gives blessing, be prompted to pass it on. Let the gospel become alive. We only become glorified when we die. We are made righteous through Jesus. How do we apply God's Word? Do we make it suit our lives & preferences? Ask for Holy Spirit wisdom. Every Church has its failings. v9 evil results in distress, goog results in blessing & peace. Are we only NT believers? Jas, faith must be accompanied by actions & lifestyle. v16 follow leading of HS to ensure the required outcome. Live humbly to give God the glory.

5/10 David Seel. - Mt 5:6
Go & do what you are called to. Mt 5:6 I can't get no satisfaction. We continually stive for happiness, contentment, satisfaction; through work, study, relationship or power. Fame is lonely. Behind success is sacrifice. Walk with Jesus, empty ourselves, then let Him fill you. Chase after Him for real satisfaction. Hunger, thirst for Jesus. Do we know real hunger? The people Jesus was speaking to could relate to what He was saying. CS Lewis - a longing this world cannot satisfy, shows we are not of this world. The grass looks greener: do I go for this, or go for God. Christlikeness is making choices He would make without always going to Him. Seek 1st the Kingdom and all these things will be added. Pursuit of happiness, do way ever get 'there' ? Ps 19:12-14. Phil 3:7-11. What are we seeking? Long for God. To live is Christ, to die is gain. Can we do the right thing, no matter what? Integrity. Be different, be renewed. Righteousness is right living & relationship. Rom 12, are we letting the world squeeze us into its mould? When we evaluate this, look for progress, not perfection! Long rightly. Ps 37:4 seek happiness in God, He gives it. Spend time & prioritise spiritual things. Jn 6:35.

28/9 Harry Sprange. - Lk 16 - 31.
Andrew & Maria in Kurdistan. Lk 16 - 31. What happens after death? Is God too nice, or? There are lots of parables, symbolism and teaching - we need to know the difference. Revelation was written code & picture language to hide it from the Romans. Lk 16 is a parable. Tom Wright, parables are not reality, but to teach on justice. There are 2 words for heaven, 3 for hell. Not everyone gets into the heavenly city. Rev 21:22-24 only if your name is written 22:14. Some will be kept outside the city. After death comes judgement. God has to have a place for those who do not want to be with Him. God wants everyone to be saved. The choice is salvation or judgement 2 Pet 3. Pray for everyone, God's 1 Tim 2:4. The heavenly city comes to earth. Our calling is to warn everyone. Acts 17 everyone needs to repent. Col 1 warn & teach. Mt 25:30 [a parable] this is not called hell, but darkness where there is gnashing of teeth. 13:22, 13:50 gnashing & fire. Mt 24 v35, 41. Eternal fire [no mention of hell] is for devil & demonic world. Rev 19:20 fire, lake, sulpher, also killing, 20:10 devil tormented. Mk 9:43,8 Jesus warning against sin. Mentions hell & fire. Picture, yet blunt language. Gehenah. Rev 14:8 destruction of Babylon. Torment in presence of angels & Lamb. Rev 20:14 dead given up. Death & Hades thrown into fire. Hades: a place to await resurrection. No longer needed. Acts 2:27,31 hades, place of departed. Mt 11:23 wiped out. Sheol OT the afterlife. Gehenah - Mt 10, fear the one who can destroy body. Mt 23:37. Gehenah, city rubbish dump, permanently smouldering. Fire is eternal, but the rubbish is consumed. Jesus warning was stark, but they needed to repentant, or become the oppressors rubbish dump. 2 Pet 2 Tarteris: prison of the titans. Gk imagery, traditional inferno. Eternal is not as infinite as we presume? Everlasting = as far as the eye can see. To the end of the age. Gk ionios. Rev, the second death. What we do now affects what comes later. There is no change of destiny after the first death.

21/9 Ryan Robertson - Proverbs 3
Princples for our lives. Keep His teaching. Solomon & Jesus singing from same hymn sheet. Following His ways comes with the promise of greater joy & abundance. Kindness & loyalty are of great value, it's why we are hurt when these are lacking. Yahweh is a very personal name for God, keep close to Him. Ask God to mould us into His likeness. Eccles 7:1-2 Solomon reflects on God's goodness to him. How will we be remembered? Things that glorified Jesus' name. Trust in God; in a more secular society, how do we do this? Exercise your faith during challenges. Look for the opportunities for Him to bless you. Let Him take you through. Usually our minds give in first. Protect it. Turning from God's ways will lead to heaviness. Give offerings to God. Give yourself, and the things you have, back to Him in love. Tithing is an act of obedience. Jn 3:16 the context is important. Correction is for our benefit, receive it. Focus on His victory, not condemnation. Demonstrate kindness, show people Jesus way. Reveal it through your life. Ps 14:1 honour Him. We can help others to move out of disgrace.

14/9 David Seel - Judges 6:1 - Jdg 7.
David seeking teaching jobs ??? Church planting ?? Word from Eleanor's mum: further a-field. Houston Texas. Oct visit, Easter start. God uses us, His power flows through us. Gideon, an unlikely hero. The world's heroes have made it big, but have not done big things. Great exploits are done in times of great pressure or conflict. Gideon - younger brother of someone in the smallest tribe. Judges 6:1 - Jdg 7. Gideon encounters God in a supernatural way. There is trouble all around. There is a cycle of turning from God, trouble comes, they turn back, God saves... Things seem to come all at once. The hits just keep on coming! Trials are not polite and don't form a queue. Crying to 2 Cor 8:9, Ps 30. Gideon had many insecurities. The angel appears when he is hiding. Use what you have. God sees our potential, not our limitations. Gideon needed a new perspective. Moses, Jonah also ran from God. The offering is consumed by fire. He continues to be fearful and anxious; human. We are the same! Learn to trust in God's power. Know it works through you. The Midianites were numerous; Gideon did well to raise 3,200 men. God says too many. 300 men had to trust in God. Human weakness allows God fertile soil for His mighty works. Jdg 7:12-16. Use God's weapons. 1 Jn 4, He that is in us. Phil 4:12-14. Where you are has nothing to do with who you are. Listen & trust when He says this is your time. Believe you can do what God says; be who He called you to be. Yes Lord. 18/9 - we win

31/8 Richard Hobson. - Mt 2:1-23
1 Cor 1,2 Paul was a church planter. Corinth was a travel hub, there was much cultural influence on the church. This led to division. v2 Sanctification is neither instantaneos nor complete. This was a true church, yet had issues. Preach true gospel, minister sacraments, administer discipline = true church. Gospel is not eloquent words. Jesus death was achievement, not accident. This is the best demonstration of God's power. The goal of this message is that people call on God for salvation. We need to be changed to recognise Him. Paul is taking on a faction who were verbally accomplished & skilled at persausion. Eloquence is not wrong, but can be used for wrong purposes. Response to the gospel should not be as a result of mere human persausion. Respnse should be to Jesus, not the message. v18 it must supernatural & spiritual. We mustn't dress up the message. Paul's concern is that people understand Jesus, not just a good message. Proclaim the testimony of God. Keep the style simple and the message accurate. Don't try to make it more pallatable. v3 Paul lived a simple life style, didn't look grand or well dressed. He trembled before crowds. v4,5 are the main point of his case. God's power, not human thinking, is the important thing. True conversion is a work of the Spirit. This may include 'signs & wonders' & fruit of the Spirit & other things. Our goal is the effect of Holy Spirit on others lives. None of the literary gifts are wrong. Am I more grounded on Word & work of God? or more impressed by the proficiency of the speaker. Don't contrive or hype the message. Be jealous for the work of HS. We may not have great phrases or oratory gifts, but the testimony of God in our lives. Be faithful in listening & speaking.

24/8 Harry Sprange. - Mt 2:1-23
Harry had an interesting summer, met Carlos Annacondia from S America. 40yrs of crusades with 000's of salvation and lots of healing. Argentina was in crisis & economic chaos. What if independence didn't work, but we get revival? Is nationalism a Biblical concept? Israel: Rom 9:1-7. Paul is desperate that Israel fulfils their destiny. The exile in Babylon was painful. Jerusalem is a political city, Zion is the spiritual heart of the city. Nationalism is not wrong. Num 24 blessing & cursing. Check who is speaking in scriptures. Pau'ls desire is for salvation. Confusion in Middle East caused by -WW1, Britain made 4 secret treaties with Palestine. It was promised to Arabs & Jews. France was also promised Palestine, so were Turks! Rom 13 submit to civil authorities. They are God's servants. Church is to obey government in normal civil matters. 1 Tim 2 pray for all men, kings. 1 Pet 2:17 honour the emperor - Nero. We should respect the office. Nations are important to God. He scattered them at Babel. Rev vision of throne 7:9 where everyone representing there nation or tribe in unity. Ezekiel, Jeremiah & Amos prophecy to the nations. Context of sheep & goats is nations. Ezek lists sins of Sodom 16: arrogant, over-fed, unconcerned for poor & needy. Dan 7:14, the culmination of history. Everyone worships Jesus. Paul teaching in Athens, Acts 17:26 inhabit whole earthly. He determines boundaries and seasons of nations. Identity, system of law & justice, and boundary. God is Very interested in justice. Twice in Deut, in Joab, 3 other occasions. Berwick is an unhealed wound. Covenants are binding. 2 Sam 21. David seeks God for reason for this. Saul broke covenant of Josua & Midianites. History must be dealt with & resolved. What is a just God looking for. The union of 1707 was corrupt & unrighteous, naval blockade threat for No vote. 1712 Westminster broke union agreement. Agreements made under duress are not legal. Lib-dems proposed a federal agreement. We pray as much as possible. Dan 9, Ezra 9, Neh 9 confess sins of nations.

17/8 Ryan Robertson. - John 2:1-12
Wedding in Cana. Jesus had just gathered His disciples. The place of women in the Bible, is it condescending? Jesus gives his mother all due respect and acknowledges her importance. Be like Mary, stand up & demonstrate your faith. Jesus declares that He has a purpose. What is Jesus telling us to do. How much do we seek His guidance & leading? Do we then obey? Jesus brings an early sign of the Kingdom. We will be cleansed by water [baptism] & blood. This miracle previews our own miracle. Filled to the brim! We are fully equiped & blessed, overflowing grace & forgiveness. Have we tasted the wine? Get the revelation of Jesus. He came & served. Drink from the living wine. He is our bridegroom, He gives us the best. Praise & worship is good; we also need prayer & study. Find out what the Kingdom of is. Seek first His Kingdom. When you are happy you sing. When you get the full revelation, you become really happy. Look for His glory. Ask to see it. Jn 5:19 in our daily walk seek to be used. Follow Jesus' example, search out the greater things.

10/8 Alan & Ellen Seel. - Mt 6:9, Rom 14:17
Contrasts. Comm Games, golds & silvers, Israel + Hammas, Iraq. Be in the place of faith, this can change your life & circumstance. Mt 6:9, a prayer. Your Kingdom come. Live in the Kingdom build the Kingdom. Rom 14:17 righteousness, peace & joy. Do the right thing, upright, honest & good. Phil 3:9. Rom 5:1 peace. Joy. 2 Cor 8:2, beyond the trials. In the Holy Spirit. Gal 5:25, keep in step. No 'life' without HS. Live as an expression of Kingdom. Be a builder. Acts 23:28, 31. Bring God's way of doing things into everyday life. Have an effect on what is happening. Offer help and assistance. 1. Make God the foundation of all you do. Get grounded in God's Word. Heb 1:1, the Message. 2. Know what matters most. Relationships, love. Gal 5:6 Exercise care & compassion. Put yourself out for people. There are rewards for worldly success. Sometimes on heavenly rewards for acts of kindness. 3. Be with the right people. Gather the right companions. Be encouraged. 4. Serve God's purpose Mk 8:3. Work at this. Have an effect. Look for opportunities. Aim for consistency & commitment. 5. Be open to the supernatural. Acts 5:12. HS given to each one for the profit of all. Pursue HS. Listen actively for His Word.

27/7 Allan Weir. - Heb 11:37-12:4
We win the race; the race is fixed. We are covenant people, called to be winners. We need built up to believe who we are & what we can achieve. We are part of a team. There is a historic team, we complete the work they started. There is a heritage to develop. There is a present team, we work together, all part of the same body. We are all connected to the Body of Christ. Support & encourage one another. Only when we collaborate will our contributions become significant and our own work reach fulfilment. Rom 12:9. Be inspired to up your game. Get into the rhythm of training, competing and resting. Prepare, participate. Jn 15, Rom 8 - only through Jesus. 1 Cor 9:24 ff. Self control is fruit of HS. Be focussed, not aimless. Physical & spiritual are connected. Deal with the flesh, get rid of what hinders. God disciplines those loves. No shortcuts in the Kingdom. Winners persevere. Believe your work will have an effect and will benefit others. Consider = meditate on Jesus, slow release food for the soul. Col 3:24 there are lots of rewards. 2 Tim 4. Jas 1:2 crowns. Run to win, be puposeful. To enter the race, be born again.

20/7 Paul Younger. - Acts 15:36-41.
Is our Church like this? Do fireworks go off, tempers flare? Paroxism of rage - a violent outburst. The complete background of this is not stated. The result was a divisive split. Why does Luke record this? All scripture is to help us. There is a warning to all believers. Harmony is not automatic. Arguments will happen. We are not perfect. Disagreements need to be confronted, not ignored. Find a way to move on. Recognise that heroes fall. People are not to be idolised. Worship only Jesus. God is always in control, and will turn things out for good. God is the master craftsman and will use use to produce good. What matters more: me or the Kingdom.

13/7 Jim Neilson. - Mt 2:1-23
We are in an ongoing battle. Neurotheology - trollope. To receive from God, be open to Him. We don't have all the answers. Mk 12:13-17. Jesus annoyed the religious leaders, they came to trap Him. They flatter Him to put Him off guard. In these situations, know that we are in relationship with Him. Arguments will not win people into the Kingdom. Be prepared, seek wisdom, have patience. Know who we are in Christ. What is our identity? Roman emperors believed they were gods. Their coins had an inscription on the back 'high priest', Jesus was asking for this coin. We are the image/icon of God to those we meet. Images abound in our society. People have problems about their images. Jesus asks about the image & the inscription. What is written in my life? Lies spoken over people can affect them. What image did God intend for me? Know how God sees you, and what He says about you. How can we develop a good image and correct understanding of who we are? Read His Word. Honour God and respect people. Pay your dues to community/society but only submit to God. He is truth and worship. We carry HS in us. We are the Kingdom of God in action. We must let Him reign. Be sure of standing in God, then neither flattery nor criticism will sway us.

29/6 Ryan Robertson. - Mt 2:1-23
1 Cor 13:4. The love we should display. Love is patient & kind. We want God's plans fulfilled now. Jesus displayed agape love on the cross. We can see the bigger purpose in God when we are patient. Go out & share this love. A love that is not rude. We are on a journey. We have the help of the HS. He can make us effective. Our ministry is to serve. This will bring us joy, and will fulfil God's purposes. Our breakthrough's will come as we serve and minister. Too often we demand our own way. This is a challenge for us. How often do we practice kindness? Are we allowing the potter to mould us? Keep no record of wrongs against you. Do not hold onto these wrongs. Resentment and irritability hold us back. Hand them over, allow God to remove them. Bring forth the Word. Injustice, it can dominate your life. Rejoice when truth wins. He can bring us through. v6 We already have the victory. Learn the wisdom that comes through the hard places. Never give up v7. Believe in God's purpose & His promise. Exercise faith to dare to believe. Love isn't easy. Look at what Jesus went through. Mt 28 He was mocked & abused. We don't face our trials alone. Solomon was wise. v8 Love will last for ever. Jesus was in the beginning. Walk in love. Our true teacher is Holy Spirit. The challenges will bring joy. Count it all Joy.

22/6 Jonathan Downie. - Mt 2:1-23
, Joshua, Hope. Start small & grow. Respect the small, but expect growth. Hope! 2mm of hope. Don't wait for all the signs. Heb 6:10-16. Earnest expectation, not just fanciful desire. There is a gap between hope & fulfilment. When do we believe? For a Church to grow, we must grow individual. There must be a process that we go through. Aim yourself at the promise. Start behaving now the way you will when the promise arrives. Protect the promise that is developing in you. Rom 5:3-5. What hill is God asking me to climb? God is not limited by our faith. Partner with God as He teaches you. Strength of character is who I am when no-one is looking. Being stubborn is greater than ability. Sozo - every area of life being saved. Never abort the promises of God. Prophecy is not a guarantee. It is God's invitation to participate in your situation; to be obedient. David was acting as king prior to being crowned. Seed planted, time of growth, harvest. Where am I in terms of promises being developed. Heb 6:16-19. Faith doesn't survive without trust; what am I trusting God for? Don't look like the world. Live trusting in God. You become like those you live with. Spend time with God. Know where you are in the process, know where you are facing. God is not fix-it max. Am I letting Him fix me? You are not sitting on the wrong egg. Where are our next leaders?

15/6 Harry Sprange. - Mt 2:1-23
RHS, Bannockburn, PfS, PPS. Pentecost. Difference between Old Covenant & New is HS. Sacrifices were shared by people in a feast. The OT had communion with God, they had seen His power & also a system for forgiveness. John the baptist announces Jesus as the Lamb of God who takes away our sin & baptise in Holy Spirit. (all 4 gospels). Jesus prepares disciples for His departure so the HS can come. Eph 4. Gifts to Church. Corinthians gifts are for individuals. Acts 2 (v33) This is all about Jesus, not the disciples. v36 let all Israel be certain that HS has come. Purpose of Pentecost is to prove lordship of Jesus: Watchman Nee. Everyone was waiting, yet disciples were not really ready. The coming of HS is fact, theologically, not dependant on our acceptance of it. Spring harvest- bring a sheaf, 50 days later, bring bread with finely ground flour mixed with oil with leaven. Pentecost is as factual as Christmas and Easter. It is all based on the work of Jesus. We are saved, forgiven & receive HS. We Believe it & respond to Him. Jesus did it all, we receive it. We can be filled with HS and not get feelings or display 'evidence'. Feelings are not salvation or receiving HS, they may come later as confirmation. Repentance will release the gift of HS. Joel: prophecy, dreams, visions. Acts, none of these, but there are other signs. Praise follows receiving HS. Anything that exalts Jesus is a sign. Be witnesses. Be a blessing.

1/6 Richard Hobson. - Mt 2:1-23
Weak & strong, rich & poor, all coming together in spiritual unity. There should be oneness in church. Rom 15:1-7. Rom 14 resolving the conflicts. Paul was a major source of teaching. People had different views of what things were important. Don't bash people into thinking your way. When we first believe, we know very little. Our faith undergoes testing. Hold firm to God's Word through trials. We are not to tolerate those who are weaker. We are to build them up. Make sure they are included. Everyone has an obligation to the others. Failings are present in everyone, especially in Church. Use the knowledge we have to benefit others. v2. Pray for one another, meet together, benefit one another. We can't all receive every week. v3,4. Jesus didn't just please Himself. Ps 69:9. We are to take on His zeal for the Church & His Kingdom. Listen to Holy Spirit & Scripture. Dig for something, a verse, a passage. The Word is for our encouragement and hope. This is what enables us to endure. Grab hold of His Word and any encouragement. Communion is a spiritual activity. We give it back to God. We help & support others to ensure there is harmony among us. We don't just close our eyes or ignore the differences, but as we unite we glorify God. As Church we accept weak people as equal members with strong people.

25/5 Paul Younger. - Jn 11:1-45.
The touch of healing love. Death & resurrection of Lazarus subordinate to this revelation of Jesus. He is Mate (friend), Man, Messaiah. This request comes from a very close friend. A dear one is ill. They want the company of friend, not the services of a healer. This is a risky journey for Jesus. Jesus has knowledge or revelation and trusts in God's timing. He is not uncaring, but obedient to God. You've got a friend. Regardless of the danger, He goes to them. Do we ask God where He's been? v35 Jesus is compassionate. He fully experiences humanity. The eternal Word became flesh, human likeness. God fully understands us. Jesus moves from emotion to action. His divinity is revealed in His humanity. Lazarus comes out fully restored. God is glorious. Mary & Martha already believed. This way the power of the Kingdom was displayed. Jesus is a good friend and a good man. He is the Messaiah. Hew, Milly, Tea. Lobster.

18/5 Alan Seel - Rom 8:15.
Before we met Jesus, we lived different lives. At some point we realised life could be better. Through Jesus we have a new life. We have a privileged position of sonship. Col 1:21 reconciled. Do we realise the full extent of what we have received. Sin has no more authority in our lives. Ps 18:30 life complete, The Message. We are now in a good place. Sin will continue to visit us Rom 7:15. Gal 5:17 desires contrary to spirit. Don't be a slave to fear. Fear is a distressing emotion. False evidence appearing real. It happens in the mind, but can manifest as real. Remember it is built on 'false'. We can choose to let fear grip us for a while, to be obsessed, or to put it aside & move on. God did not give us a spirit that is fearful or timid. We do not need to be trapped in a circle of fear. Rom 6:11, choose to be alive to God, dead to sin. Live in His provision - a spirit of sonship. We have standing, we are in His family. We are in His love. There is no fear in love. He delivers us from fear. 'Fear not' Perfect love casts out fear. God includes us, His love never fails. Eph we are called as sons. We can know love, light. What will we allow in our lives? We proclaim His provision and the power we have in Him. 2 Tim 1:7, all these & a sound mind. Face the fear, slay the giants. Experience the freedom; on a daily basis! Don't let yourself be a slave to fear. Tell fear to go. God loves us. We are conquerors through His love. Abba-pappa, focus on Him. Cup 1/2 full.

11/5 Hugh Henderson. - Mt 2:1-23
Malawi, Blantyre. Pastor Elton, bicycle, teaching materials. They are hungry for the good news from God. 200 orphans. 1 tap for 1500 people. Container for Burundi, due to be shipped soon. What is God's purpose for me? We are not just here to survive. 1 Jn 3:8 to destroy the works of the evil one. The struggle began with Adam & Eve in the Garden - Gen. The battle for the soul of mankind has raged ever since. We have all sinned. In the next garden, Gethsemane, Jesus battled and overcame. Jesus wanted to be the sacrifice to save mankind. The second Adam fulfilled that purpose. Evil still exists, but has been overcome. Salvation can be ours. Where do we stand in Christ. On the last day, He will come for His saints. By the Holy Spirit we can stand as victors in our salvation. Eph 6:12, the struggle lingers on. Eternity has begun, although time continues. Fight against the powers & principalities, not people Eph 3:10 His intent; Him working through us to rulers & kings. We are instruments of change. We serve in power of HS. Matt 16:18. God's Church will not be defeated. The Church will stand on the rock of Christ. Walk in the Spirit of God. Jesus restored Peter. HS used Peter to proclaim the Gospel. We are to walk in power of HS. Col 1:20 Jesus reconciled all things; He made peace. He will call us to be with Him, until then we serve the gospel. Jude 24. How do we keep going? Let Him keep you. He will present us to the Father. Rom 1:16, the power of God for salvation. We declare His message.

27/4 Jim & Carol Neilson. - Mk 12:1-12.
What has happened in our hi-tech self-centred generation? God has a plan that includes the Church. Mk 12:1-12. Cf Isa 5. A song of the vineyard. Jesus interprets this for the time He is living in. The vineyard belongs to the loved one. Israel kept the blessing for itself. What else could be done for the vineyard? Jesus looks to us for fruit. Righteousness, holiness & converts are what He desires. Are we flowing out bringing life? The best way may not to have an agenda; annoy, upset or pester people. How can we be fruitful? Relationships are built in working together, helping others. Jesus still comes to the Church expecting fruit. 'Let's kill the heir' Religion is not the biggest cause of death: communism, ethnic cleansing. Ps 2 why do people conspire? There is more than just the material level. Religion is a man-made construct that misrepresents God, even Christianity. We represent God in the world. It is a challenge for us to live up to this. Jesus is the capstone. This is the reference point for all aspects of the building. Eph, we are to build in relation to Jesus. Get in line with the corner stone. Be built together into a dwelling where God lives. Maintain the unity of the Spirit. The vineyard is His, He desires fruit. How then shall we live?

20/4 Ruari O'Brien, Chloe. - Lk24:1-12
Memory; we forget things. We are called to remember this day. The disciples lived through uncertainty as they saw Him taken away. The women on the way to the tomb were grieving, confused. They were reminded, then they remembered. Are we looking for hope or salvation in the wrong places. Don't look for the living among the dead. Live life with Him. When we remember, go and share. Get the revelation of hope. Don't be hopeless. Lay down guilt & shame. He is risen and our hope. Death couldn't hold Him, & cannot hold us. We are invited into resurrection live, but we must die to self. God's power is over death. Jesus always spoke of His death. Society is proud of its logic and rationality. Don't underestimate the power of God. He is an almighty, powerful resurrected God. The Easter message is strong and powerful. Gal 2:20. Peter takes time to come to terms with what Jesus has done. Glorify His amazing power. Dwell in Him.

13/4 Allan Weir. - Mt 2:1-23
Banana, ready to eat it, enjoy it. We carry the gifts around, let them out of the box! Mt 21:1-17. Palm Sunday, what happens when Jesus comes and is present? Before He comes, there is always preparation. His fruit comes from fertile ground. Heb 10:5, Mk1:3. God prepared for the gospel going out through the Roman roads & networks. We need to embrace the process of preparation. He is continually preparing us. We then need to move into what we have been made ready for. Understand this. Pray and begin to act. Get your heart & mind ready. Look beyond the comfort zone. Eph 2:20 our good works are prepared. We will accomplish by His Spirit, not our efforts. Prophetic words are God telling us what is coming. Rev 19:10 everywhere there is Jesus, there is prophecy given and fulfilled. 1 Cor 2:9-10 HS leads us into the things of God; our knowledge of God should increase. Contend for prophetic revelation and declaration. Wherever He is, there are people. Mk 1:45 Jesus had to stay outside the city, but they still came. If He is here, He will draw all people to Himself. We need confidence in this. Ex 33:15 His presence is vital; not our worship or teaching. Wherever we go HS goes in us. We are anointed with the same Spirit as Jesus. We honour Him. Our faith & confidence must be in Jesus bringing people to where we are. Wherever He is there is praise. Worship Him, declare who He is, exalt Him. The Kingdom is manifest on praises. Praise is spiritually dynamic. People are healed in worship. Jesus ministry is released in praise, it's a spontaneous response to Jesus. The way we treat children is reflection of how treat Him. Praise is a vehicle for revelation. This is season for praise, rather than worship. Ps 16, we are majestic. Where He is there is purity; the Spirit is Holy. Eph 5:27 sanctified, blameless. Worship Him in the beaty of holiness. Worship & Word must be accompanied by prayer. He was a man of prayer. It is access to the Father for saved and sinners. Christ is our only mediator. Where He is, there is purpose. Mk1:38. We have purpose, in Him. Know who you are, minister in this confidence. Impact people's lives. Learn what's important in His Kingdom. Lk 4:18. Review what how/how you are doing. Actions with purpose are valid. Funerals, anointing, children, purpose

6/4 William Butchart - Mt 2:1-23
Rom 12:9-21 Pauls teaching very similar to sermon on mount. This teaching is for Christians. How do we engage with each other? It's important. Church is to be a community, the body of Christ, His bride. We must live it out Jn 13:35. His love is not based on merit. We are to hate evil. Honour was your place in society. Can we be competitive in doing good & showing honour? Our worth is in Jesus. There is no place for complacency. We can rejoice in the hope we have. Let this hope transform our being and not let our joy be stolen. Pray & contribute to each other's lives & welfare. God is looking for a living body. For some to declare Jesus would mean an end to your livelihood or even life. The world doesn't really understand the Church. Paul calls Christians to engage with their community. Shepherds that stink of the sheep. Seek to live at peace. We are not to use the gospel as an excuse. Be shock absorbers for evil. God will bring justice - only He sees clearly. We are to treat our enemies differently. Walk the hard path. Bless your enemies. Only with the HS can we do this. Are we furthering the Kingdom or evil? Which weapons are we using? God has proven His way. Choose to stand in the way of good. We dialogue with the world as sinners. Choose to bless. HS empower us.

30/3 Ryan Robertson. - Mt 2:1-23
Hab 1, 2:1-5 We have a plan & a purpose. As we go on as Christians, things come against us, but we will be victorious. Phil 2. God will bring us through. Write down your dreams. Encourage yourself, seek God. Use the authority in Jesus. v3 the vision may not come immediately, but it will come suddenly. Salvation is a journey. As we carry the Name, things come against us. The way we respond will be a witness. All of God's promises are yes & amen. His timing is perfect. Keep focussed on Him. In difficulties, get into God's Word. Use Jesus' Name in +ve ways. Sometimes evil gets the better of us. Be patient and confident in God. v4 live by faith. Take responsibility for your faith. Receive God's Word and act on it. Live by faith. We are set apart. Eph 6:10. Use the armour. v5 death is never satisfied. Evil prospers only as far as God lets it. Jesus has dominion. Use His name. All nations will come to God. We must assist people to come into God's Kingdom. Walk in love. Let the chains be unlocked. Persist in prayer. In all situations, get a vision for the solution and hold onto it, seek God for it.

23/3 Harry Sprange. - Mt 2:1-23
Gen 1:26 Why am I here? God made man for a purpose. "Let them rule..." We are to show creation what God is like. We lost God's image at the fall, but is being restored 2 Cor 3:18. We are becoming what we were meant to be. Christ in you the hope of glory. Biblical mystery is something that is unknown until God reveals. We are made by God for God to be inhabited by God. Our priority is to seek Him first. He created us and gives us gifts. He created work Gen 2:15 this is good. Gen 3 toil is the result of the fall. We will have things to do in 'heaven'. Jobs can be fulfilling. 2 Cor 5:9, we can feel God's pleasure. Is my aim in life to please God? In work, family. Jn 20:21 God sends us to do what He was doing, to continue Jesus work. We are called to a purpose. Moses was sent to free Israel. Abraham was to bless the nations. Jn 17:18 sent into the world Lk 19:10, Mk 10:45, 1 Jn 3:8. Be clear what Jesus purpose was; not comfort, pleasure. Jesus priority was to replace the kingdom of darkness with light. Prayer is part of the battle. It is a battle, but it is necessary. HS is given to us to proclaim Jesus. Anacondia, called to preach in Argentina 30 yrs ago; his son still preaching. HS departed from Church in UK years ago, because we keep God to ourselves. We carry Christ & not a message. When God comes, people come. Roger Forster when we get saturated, we reflect. Pray for God to fill us for His glory. 1 Cor 6:19,20. 2 Cor 5:15 He died for all those who live...

16/3 Richard Hobson. - Mt 2:1-23
Remembering what God says. Worship. Start recognising there is something wrong with the world. There are forces & services [police, army, NHS, social work] to protect us and look after us. We tend towards evil. There are a Variety of solutions from hedonism to utopia. The Bible has a diagnosis and a solution. Gen 3, the sin & separation, Rom 3:23. The cross is the solution to overcome satan & evil. Rom 5:18 disobedience was triumphed by obedience. There is hope for every sinner. Forgiveness of sins is just the beginning. We must respond to this in joy & purpose & action. We must remind each other of this. The giver is greater than the gift. God is greater than the cross. We were made to worship Him. Too often we are distracted. Our worship will determine our actions. The Church is malfunctioning, as are we. We need to respond to Him in worship. We need to focus on Him to function correctly. Niagara falls is more than water, Grand Canyon is more than a ditch. Unbelievers still look for objects to worship. Soul heath & well being come from beholding spledour, not self. Exchanging the truth for lies Rom. Seeking after a god is not the solution; we need to understand who God is & how he is to be worshipped. Sound doctrine & good theology is necessary for sincere & authentic worship. We need revelation of God, we get this through Jesus. Worship is a response to seeing and absorbing. Keep learning about God [truth], believe it, let HS direct us. Eccles 3, worship: speaking/silence. Get in the right season. Ps 34 always. Acknowledge wherever you are, whatever time it is, we can worship. The harder it is to worship, the more essential it is. Bless = praise/salute. We are made for worship, we have a need within us. Boast in Him, magnify, taste & see through HS. In this physical reality, we are spiritual beings. We are made to be in awe of God. Lack of worship since fall is the cause of disfunction & disorder. We are meant to focus on the brightest light in the universe. Canon Andrew White

9/3 William Butchart. - Mt 2:1-23
Sole nominee @ Ellon. 1 Cor 12. God has created a body, but it has become out of synch. Are we just like this part of the Church. v11 The gifts are from God. The giver is more important than the gift. v4 stay balanced, avoid the chaos, restore order & wisdom. vv4-6 Trinity is behind all gifting. We are participating in His work. We need a correct view of what the source and purpose of the gifts are. They all exist, remember who gave them & what they are for. Get a healthy balance. v11 God gives as He wills. These phenomenon are not excuses for rebellious living. Everyone has gifts, many gifts. God is with us all along. Don't focus too much on certain gifts. v12,13 many members make the body. We are not all hands! All social groups should be able to find their place. Baptism, renouncing the world to follow God. God views all gifts as equal. We serve the God who serves. We all drink the same Spirit. This body is diverse & complex. v14ff Some have gifts but are insecure and not functioning fully. Some look at themselves and consider themselves inadequate. Let these verse reassure & encourage you. There are more gifts than listed here, opportunities for everyone to contribute. There is no need to desire to be like someone else. You, and your gifts are unique and useful to the body. Rise up, believe, act, get encouragement & other opinions. Don't arrogantly dismiss any other gifts v21, or focus too much on your area of ministry. Deal with prejudice. Everyone that declares Jesus is filled with Spirit and is indispensable and part of the life of the body. We honour & strengthen the weaker and less presentable parts. v27 we are members, all called to serve, participate and contribute. Don't look down on others or yourself. Comfort zones

2/3 Paul Younger. - Mt 2:1-23
Prov 3:1-12. v5,6 we make the mistake we have learned something & don't need to hear it again. In circumstances we worry; it may take a while - or not happen. Trust in God. Let Him remind you of things you think you know. Who am I trusting? Me or God? How trustworthy or able am I? Our own skills & resources very often get us through, but are not 100% reliable. We all need help sometimes. Others can give strength and information we lack, but are also ultimately falible. Do we wholly trust God, or deceive ourselves by trusting Him only so far? God is to be trusted completely & always. How well do we fare when crises come? What are we doubting? God is able & willing to help us. Trust God with anticipation! We don't trust strangers. He is no stranger. He rewards trust. Living without God is like stumbling around in a maze in the darkness. With God, there is still a maze, but there is light & guidance.

23/2 Alan & Ellen Seel. - Heb 4:12
Love, soak in it, Grace, truth, patience, hope, faith.   Allow HS to make a difference in our lives.   When the bin lid comes off the rubbish blows away.
The impact of the Word in our life. Heb 4:12, 2 Tim 3:16, Ps 119. The Word is to be central in our lives. Writen & spoken Word comes from God. Live it, trust it & apply it. We are privileged to have copies of the Bible. Mary Jones' Bible. She saved for 6 yrs, walked 25 miles to buy it. God's Word is precious.
As Christians we are to be fruitful, our lives shaped by the Word. How can we receive it? Lk 8:4-15. The seed fell on 4 types of ground. Jn 15 urges us to bear fruit. How receptive are we to this word? Am I seed among thorns, are there things holding me back? Many things can cause this; ambition for career, personal achievement, priorities, pressures, health. Circumstances can choke the life out of us. How do we cultivate the good soil. An honest heart is required, it needs to be soft & shaped by God. After reading, we must apply it. Memorising is helpful. By persevering a crop is produced.
Have I grown in the 7 wks of this year? We must be productive! The Word is a call to action. Believe that God will act. Expect fruit, it's God's plan for us. Let the spoken Word & the written word guide you.

2/2 Allan & Ann Weir 1 Sam 17:38-40. Wrong trousers or the right armour?
Ann - Beeping intermittent, something needs fixed, by the expert. Allan - a ship with a sail, bed sheet, too small, not strong enough, need a proper sail. Back to dry dock, inspection, repair. An activity of God to inspect, replace.
1 Sam 17:38-40. The problem was not the equipment the army had. David had God's armour on the inside & was able to stand against the giant. Where are we sourcing our strength and purpose? 2 Cor 10:1-6 weapons are spiritual. Be connected to God & His resources. Eph 1:19 the power in us; it raised Jesus from dead. Are we resolving the situations, or drawing back & drawing on Him. Saul's trust was in himself. David's trust was in God. His outlook was that of Rom 8:38. God was for him.
God had promised to overthrow the Philistines. David saw the opportunity. Greater is He who is in me than this challenge. David knew who he was. We can change how we respond. He overcame his brother Eliab's anger & attack on his integrity. He didn't react to others views and attitudes in the situations he faced. He looked for opportunities to be victorious. Be confident that God is with us. The resources of Heaven are available to us.
Be courageous. Be the people of God. Know if there is a battle going. Speak positively, not defeatedly. v26 he spoke up for the nation, against the enemy. By covenant, we are His people.
Exhort the righteous. v37 are faith words. v46 prophetic words - Goliath was going down. We cannot live without the spiritual armour. v20 David was a responsible person; completed his tasks given by his father he had integrity. David's actions were different, the army ran from the giant. David ran towards Goliath. He took action. Know who you are, live in faith & confidence.

26/1 Hugh Henderson. - Isa 46.
Big meal 12 countries. Water Works projects. Malawi, electricity & pumps broken. Pray for water projects, teams & dentist training. Hugh leaving job at college. New offices at Swallow r/a. Harry Meliue. Isa 46. God is caring, the only God, through all history, a saving God. Babylonian gods cannot deal with the workload. Idols in our life will become a burden and drain us. We make them & have to support them. They are a heavy weight.
God doesn't need our support, He is not a burden. He can take us through situations rather than out of them. v3 God supports us. He takes care of us all our days. He carries us. v5 He is the only God. There is no equal or comparison. Idols are stuck in one place till we move them, they do nothing for us; in adverse circumstances we have to save them! Our idols look like us. v8 History is His story.
He is from everlasting to everlasting. His purpose will stand. It may be tough for us, but we will come through. He can bring challenges to us as part of His purpose. He is in control. Are we stubborn? (Yes!) His righteousness is coming near. The OT is about Christ. We are rebellious, we need His righteousness. We give our burdens & sin to the King, He gives His Kingdom & wealth to the prostitute. We have received, this is the day of mercy.

19/1 Jim Neilson. - Mark 11:27-end. Who do you think you are?
Infection control, pharisees, nit picking. Whose authority do you have? Are we ready to be criticised for questioning the status quo? Will we point people to reality? Jesus doesn't answer the question directly. He wants us to examine the evidence and work it out for ourselves. What is God saying in this [or any] situation? From John's testimony & Jesus ministry, what is God saying and what will I do about it? Work it out.
Matt... All authority, go make disciples. Not everyone agrees with or respects the authority. We carry eternity in us, and standing behind us is the greatest authority in the universe. Men love darkness more than light. Outwork your relationship with God the Father. He asks us to live consistent lives demonstrating His glory. People are looking for what's real. Take the opportunities to invite God into the situation. Live consistently. This will impact lives.

12/1 Harry Sprange. - Matt 7 Judge not.
Also Col 2:16 Rom 14:12 1 Cor 4:5. Don't let others judge us. God will judge 1 Chron 19. Ps 96. Paul in Athens, God will judge, Heb 9:30, Rom 14:11. Often used to threaten us, but it should comfort us. The Jews looked forward to judgement day. God was going to deal with their enemies. We might not be alive if we didn't judge. Judge what you hear 1 Cor 10,11. Krino. 1 Cor 5:12 judge those in the Church. Ana krino - judge strictly. Use wisdom to judge thoroughly. Dia krino. Discern spiritually.
